10 years of the Euro

Is there any Slovakian collector interested in one or more of these Portuguese?
Issued year - 2009, January
Commemorative coins bearing this design have been issued by all the 16 countries, starting last January. The design symbolises that the euro is the latest step in the long history of trade, from pre-historic barter, to Economic and Monetary Union.
Voting on the coin design, was open to all citizens or residents of the European Union and took place between 31 January and 22 February 2008. Voters could choose between 5 designs pre-selected by European Mint Directors. 141 675 participated in the vote. The winning design received 41.48% of the votes and it was created by Mr George Stamatopoulos at the Bank of Greece.
This is the second time that all euro-area countries issue a euro coin with a common design also on the national side, the first time being the issue of the commemorative 2 € coin celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome in 2007.

Alto Douro Vinhateiro - Wine producing Region of Upper Douro - Unesco World Heritage
Alexandra Vieira, a work mate, got me this original and magnificent 2,5 € coin. On the 14th December 2001, UNESCO classified as World Heritage, in the category of cultural landscape, an area larger than 26 thousand hectares in Northeastern Portugal, the Upper Douro Wine Region. This region has been producing wine for more than 2000 years, including the world Port Wine. The coin presents on the observe an element that suggests at the same time the flowing river Douro and/or a vine-plant with two hanging leaves bearing the coat of arms of the Republic and the denomination. The reverse shows the river and the sequence of mountains with their typical terraces.
