Cyprus

In January 2008 the two newest Euro members, Cyprus and Malta, released their first official Euro coins into circulation. Cyprus chose to place the Mouflon, a native wild sheep, (the most characteristic specie of Cyprus), representing the island’s wild life on their 1, 2 and 5 eurocents, an ancient sailing ship, (the ship of Kyrenia - 4th century B.C.), on their 10, 20 and 50 eurocent and the ancient Idol of Pomos, a prehistoric fertility sculpture dating from about 3000 B.C. on their bimetallic 1 and 2 Euro coins. Once again, Rita (from Malta) sent me this splendid UNC set of Cyprus, in exchange of euro commemorative coins. Thanks a lot.
