TYE Coins Quartet

Ten Years of Euro Banknotes and Coins - TYE

More  4 TYE 2012 commemorative coins - from Germany, Malta, Cyprus and Luxembourg.
Citizens and residents of the euro area have selected the winning design for this new euro coin issued by all euro area countries to commemorate ten years of euro banknotes and coins in January 2012. Using web-voting, they had five designs to choose from. Those designs had been pre-selected by a professional jury at the close of a design competition that was open to citizens from all euro area countries.
The winning design symbolises the way in which the euro has become a true global player over the past ten years, as well as its importance in day-to-day life, with various aspects being depicted: ordinary people (the family of four), trade (the ship), industry (the factory) and energy (the wind power stations).
The design was created by Helmut Andexlinger, a professional designer at the Austrian Mint.
Issuing volume:
Cyprus TYE - 1.000.000
  Germany TYE - 30.000.000 (5 different mintmarks - A, D, F, G and J - 6 million for each)
   Malta TYE - 700.000
    Luxembourg TYE - 1.400.000.

10 years of Economic and Monetary Union - Malta

Is there any Slovakian collector interested in one or more of these Maltese coins?
Issued year - 2009, January
5 magnificent and shining 2009 EMU coins, depicted in the image, 4 from Malta and 1 from Belgium (see last post), result of my last exchange with David Attard, from Malta.
This original coin shows in the centre a stylised human figure whose left arm is prolonged by the euro symbol.
Thanks again, David.

All these fabulous coins depicted in the image result of a recent swap with one nice friendly collector from Malta, David Attard. He sent me 5 EMU coins in exchange of 4 Portuguese commemoratives coins. First we can see in the image, the Belgian EMU and behind 4 Malta EMU coins (see next post).
Thanks, David.

Cyprus

In January 2008 the two newest Euro members, Cyprus and Malta, released their first official Euro coins into circulation. Cyprus chose to place the Mouflon, a native wild sheep, (the most characteristic specie of Cyprus), representing the island’s wild life on their 1, 2 and 5 eurocents, an ancient sailing ship, (the ship of Kyrenia - 4th century B.C.), on their 10, 20 and 50 eurocent and the ancient Idol of Pomos, a prehistoric fertility sculpture dating from about 3000 B.C. on their bimetallic 1 and 2 Euro coins. Once again, Rita (from Malta) sent me this splendid UNC set of Cyprus, in exchange of euro commemorative coins. Thanks a lot.

Malta

On 10 July 2007, the Council of the European Union approved Malta’s application to join the euro area on 1 January 2008. On 1 January 2008, the euro became legal tender in Malta replacing the Maltese lira. From 1 February 2008, only euro banknotes and coins can be used for cash payments in Malta.
A certain Rita from Malta, who needed the 2002 eight portuguese coins sent me this new, shining and wonderful 2008 UNC set in exchange for a trade. Thanks to her, now I only need someone from Cyprus for a similar swap.
The 1 and 2 € depicts the eight-pointed Maltese cross. The 10, 20 and 50 cent coins depicts the Maltese coat of arms, a shield with a heraldic representation of the Maltese flag, topped by a mural crown and bounded by two branches, an olive branch symbolizing peace and a palm frond representing the Maltese identity. The 1, 2 and 5 cent shows at the centre the altar at the prehistoric temple of Imnajdra (a Neolithic complex dating back to 3600 BC which is considered to be one of the oldest free-standing temple groupings in the world).
