German EMU

Issued year - 2009, January

It's almost 2010 and only now have I been able to get my first German EMU - with mintmark "G" - Karslruhe, due to a recent swap with Agostoni Roberta, from Italy. In our first swap, she sent me 4 coins, the German EMU and 3 currency coins, all depicted in the image, in exchange by several portuguese coins.
Thanks, Roberta.
The new 2 euro coin, issued last January, celebrates ten years of economic and monetary union (EMU). EU citizens and residents have selected the design by an on-line vote. The design, which symbolizes the euro as the latest step in the long history of European economic integration, was created by Mr G. Stamatopoulos, sculptor at the Minting Department of the Greek Central Bank. The centre of the coin shows a stylised human figure whose left arm is prolonged by the euro symbol.

22 coins (all depicted in the image) sent by Bernard de Waard, from Netherlands, in our first swap. In exchange for several portuguese coins, I receive his package with 21 currency and one fabulous commemorative Saarland State coin, featuring Ludwig Church in Saarbrücken with mintmark "G" - Karslruhe.
And we are now working on a new swap.
Thanks, Bernard.
Germany started the commemorative coin series "Die 16 Bundesländer der Bundesrepublik Deutschland" (The 16 States of the Federal Republic of Germany) in 2006. One coin representing a German state will be issued per year between 2006 and 2021 and will coincide with that state's presidency of the 'Bundesrat'.

Unbelievable. These two missing german coins ("D" - Munich and "J" - Hamburg mintmarks), came from the small change found everyday. They became my 2nd and 3th 2008 german Bunsdesland series coins (3th of 16) and they feature St. Michael's Church, in Hamburg. Now, only the "A" - Berlin and "G" - Karslruhe mintmark coins are missing.

Only two missing...

Issued year - 2007, March
One more german 50th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome coin to my collection. This one was also sent by Wendy (see all the last three posts), and has the "F" - Stuttgart mintmark.
Now there are only two mintmarks missing: "A" - Berlin and "J" - Hamburg. Is there anyone out there interested in swapping these missing coins with me?

Commemorative German Schleswig-Holstein -"G"

Issued year - 2006, February
Here in Portugal we have some specific shops where we can buy at any day, any hour, freshly baked bread, still hot. We call that shops "Pão Quente" (which means "Hot Bread", roughly translated).
In my daily shop "Pão Quente", I received yesterday this wonderful german coin.
A very lucky day, because it represents my third Schleswig-Holstein Bunsdesland series coin. This "G" - Karslruhe mintmark is now going to make company to the other "F" - Stuttgart and "D" - Munich coins.

Commemorative German Schleswig-Holstein -"F"

Issuance year - 2006, February
The photo is not good enough for such a beautiful coin. It's also one of the 22 sent by Wendy, from Netherlands, and it represents my second Schleswig-Holstein Bunsdesland series coin.
Owing to this recently coin exchange, I can now put side by side this "F" - Stuttgart mintmark coin with the "D" - Munich one.

The image features the seventh Rome Treaty coin in my collection, and the second one from Germany (Portugal, Spain, Belgium, France, Netherlands and Germany) and it was also sent by Wendy from Netherlands. Nice, very nice.
Thanks to her, my first German Treaty of Rome coin with "D" - Munich mintmark, has now the company of this "G" - Karslruhe.

Commemorative German Schleswig-Holstein -"D"

Issuance year - 2006
For me, once more and again from Germany, one of the most beautiful commemorative coins. The Holstentor, the gate symbolising of the town of Lübeck, is show in the center. The words “Schleswig Holstein” link the Holstentor as the depicted construction with the federal state. The outer ring of the coin features the 12 stars of the EU, the year of issue 2006. These €2 commemorative coins are to be minted in equal quantities by all five German mints.
30 millions have been issued and I have only this one with the letter "D" - Munich, in my collection. I need the other 4. Who want's to swap them for portuguese coins or others?

Commemorative German Mecklenburg-Vorpommern -"F"

Issuance year - 2007
For me, one of the most beautiful coins and it shows a representation of the Schwerin Castle. The word "Mecklenburg-vorpommern" is inscribed underneath the castle and the engraver’s initials "HH" appear at the bottom of the inner part of the coin. One of the letters ’A - Berlin’, ’D - Munich’, ’F - Stuttgart’, ’G - Karlsruhe’ or ’J - Hamburg’ appears as the mintmark above the design.
30 millions have been issued and I have only this one with the letter "F" - Stuttgart, so I need someone to swap the missing ones for the portugueses coins or others.

Germany

Only one country but it's almost like 5. In Germany, since 2002, five different locations - Bundesland/"state" - have issued coins with his different mintmark/letter (A-Berlin; D-Munich; F-Stuttgart; G-karslruhe; J-Hamburg) in all coins. 3 different designs and many, many coins.
